MOPC Children’s Ministry strives to be a place where children and families feel a sense of welcome, belonging, and community. We hope to provide opportunities and teaching to grow and strengthen our children's faith in God and Jesus Christ, both relationally and intellectually.

CHILDREN'S CHURCH

Who: 3-year-olds through 5th graders

When: During both 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Sunday Worship Services.

What: Children begin the worship experience in the sanctuary with their parents. After a short Children’s Sermon, kids are invited to leave the main service (escorted by adult staff and volunteers) to attend Children’s Church. During Children’s Church, they will have an age-appropriate lesson on the same passage of Scripture that the Pastor is preaching on in the main sanctuary. Children will also have prayer time, complete a craft, and have free play.

NURSERY CARE

Who: Babies and toddlers under three-years-old

When:  Sundays 8:30 a.m. -12:00 p.m.

What: Nurturing care by trained and consistent staff members for our littlest ones during their time at church. Our nursery staff models Christ's love through play, song, and art.  We believe it is never too young to share God’s love with our children.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Who: 3-year-olds through 5th graders

When: Sundays, September - May (except for some holiday weekends), 9:45 a.m. -10:45 a.m.

What: Children are divided into three separate, age-based classes. These classes are taught by some of our fabulous volunteers. During Sunday School, children study the Bible, share the “highs and lows” of their week, pray together, and play games. This hour of Bible learning is appropriate for families who desire to see their children connect with knowledgeable, loving, and consistent adults while growing deeper in their relationship with God.

SOLID ROCK 345

Who: 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders

When: Wednesdays, during the school year, 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

What: Small Group for our pre-teens, led by wonderful staff and volunteers. This time allows kids to learn about God, ask questions, have fun, pray, play games, and explore friendships in a safe and supportive environment.

PARENTS’ CAFÉ

Who: Parents of children and youth

When: Sundays, September - May (except for some holiday weekends), 9:45 a.m.-10:45 a.m.

What: We recognize that parenting children and teens can be both extremely wonderful and extremely challenging, sometimes simultaneously. We also recognize that parenting shouldn’t be done alone; it truly “takes a village!” Parents’ Café provides a relaxed environment for parents to learn, pray, fellowship, and support each other.

FELLOWSHIP ACTIVITIES

Who: Children and families

When: Various times and days throughout the year

What: Throughout the year families gather to build relationships, support one another, and just have fun!  MOPC offers a variety of fellowship activities for children and families. Past activities have included park days, bowling, swimming, hikes, camping, and cook-outs.

SERVICE PROJECTS

Who: Children and families

When: Various times and days throughout the year

What: Loving others through acts of service is part of what it means to walk with Jesus. Kids and families can participate in various service activities, including Operation Christmas Child, Angel Tree, Family Promise, and One Great Hour of Sharing.

SUMMER ACTIVITIES

Vacation Bible School

Who: 4-year-olds through graduating 5th graders

What: VBS is always one of our favorite weeks of the summer. During this week, kids learn about God through crafts, science, Bible stories, games, drama, and music. Our wonderful volunteers provide an amazing, high-energy, fun-filled experience for all involved! Scroll to the bottom for specific information regarding this year’s VBS.

Service Camp

Who: Students who have completed 3rd-5th grade

What: A week-long Christian summer camp that includes a variety of community service experiences.  Past projects have included working with children at Head Start, serving at Family Promise, cleaning up community gardens, visiting with nursing home residents, creating a *free* lemonade stand for neighbors, and providing a meal for our church seniors.

Summer Playdates

Who: Kids of all ages and their parents

What: Throughout the summer we have regularly scheduled playdates at parks in the Salt Lake valley.  This is a very relaxed time for kids to play and parents to fellowship.
